Day 10...Little Detail for Trent!!!

The photo above shows now they just pushed the 2x6 on the right down until it fit rather than recut or correct their error.
This is just some of the interesting work on the dining room that we have been discovering...the gap is where the load bearing wall starts. Just looking, they used a lot of scraps and stuff and if a piece didn't quite fit, well they just pushed or shoved it in anyway, or if it had a gap, well...Who was going to see that?
Fun in the walls I call it.

  1. Soooo, there was no indication other than a few drips that the workmanship was so shoddy? You haven't found that amount of (scary)poor construction in the rest of the house, right? Maybe you should have saved the tree so you could have run a wire to it to hold it all up, or maybe whoever did this should have. ;)

  2. There were some questionable joints in the siding, some visible water damage and enough sagging to suggest that there would be some “surprises” when they opened up the dining room. At one time it was a deck and then they just framed it into a room without plans or a permit! Good thing Greg, Rick and the guys are there to straighten it all out. Thanks for the pictures, I love the blog!

  3. Yep, it wasn't actually a surprise...and no this won't be the last of them...given that the bathroom had some of the same issues.
