After Stuart finished demolishing the old Oak stump and moving most of my plants out of the way, I started looking at the front yard with an eye to possible landscaping. And it occurred to me that perhaps with everything out of the way, this might be the time to have Action Sanitary come out and pump the tanks and explain the system to me. That was never done when I moved in, except that I was assured that it was a brand new system. Hummmmm!
So...sorry for all these photos but this way now I know and won't forget the set up. This part of the main tank is for 'solids' and are pumped here from the house via a small pump under a red bucket. This cover is the one closest to the house. It was pretty full and had been in place more than 10 years...1200 gal capacity.
This opening is the fluid container, and has a filter which in turns sends the fluids to the tank area below.
This contains the pump, the floats and the Alarm! THe pump sends the fluids right under the road to the leach line which is buried very deep in the wooden flower bed...very deep. However we found out right away that the alarm wasn't working. I immediately expected the worst case (sorry Todd) as there was an unexplained live wire found around the front of the house.
Thank Goodness I called Jerry Campo as he is the one who had installed the pump in the first place 10 years ago in October! He was able to make sure that power was running to the tank, and then determined that the pump itself was no good.
He had written the date of installation right on the PVC pipe that the pump was attached to, so we knew everything! He was able to check his wiring and order a new pump on the spot for delivery the next day. Now everything is in working order, pump, floats, alarm...all a-ok! I can't recommend Action Sanitary enough! Believe me if there is ever an issue, I know who to call. And I will be able to explain the system a bit better than before!
And finally, last but not least, yesterday, Sylvester and Tweedy were ready to be unveiled as the "cat" grass that my neighbor had given me had sprouted! When it is 4" high, I will introduce the planter and the grass to the Slynx! He is the intended recipient!
Happy New Year!!!
