Day 7...A Look Inside The Walls

This is a shot in the bathroom of the load bearing wall, not bearing a load...it is a little hard to see, but there is a significant gap between the dark beam and the two x's. The Beam stands alone supporting the loft...interesting, but it hasn't fallen down yet!

Now not to leave on a negative note...The roof demolition is coming right along with a lot more light in the loft once that section of roofing was removed. Worried me a little at first, but all is well so far. Bits and pieces of rotted wood on the parapet, and tons of glue etc. all over to try to stop the leaks. All the stuff that I want done right this time.
In the bathroom you can see all the dust floating in the air as they cut out the last of the structures. They are now working on getting rid of the tile floor and the sub floor. I have to hand it to these crews, they are all being super careful and cleaning up as they go along.
The parking down here is at a premium, so there is a lot of too and froing which is complicated right now by the phone man. That has turned into a strange odyssey of it's own. We are finding all sorts of problems with the wiring and electrical system and now the phone lines as well. Hopefully it will all get sorted out and done the right way.
Ah, Day 3!

August 1...let the work begin!

We are finally off on the next new adventure with the house. This project began as a simple bathroom redo and woodpecker deterrent, but has some how mushroomed into some bigger then that. Actually the full extent of this project won't be really clear until some walls and floors are opened up. I swear this will be some thing with a surprise every day.

Today's surprise, was an electrical box that was opened down in the Dog Room, what will become the Laundry Room/Dog Room. The box was rusted shut and had a huge number of wire of all sorts of lengths crammed into the space and when Rick began to check them light started blinking and flashing all over the downstairs. Bits of black stuff were apparent...not a great picture.

But it is all getting cleaned up now! Once all the rewiring etc. is done down there, then we can have the new washer and dryer delivered and then get back to the bathroom. It has been a while since I have started up a blog ( my family is very happy I am sure...) so format wise I will be a bit rusty. But it is great therapy for me when a project is going on, so bear with me.
